2015 was my first year making quilts. It took me awhile to get the hang of it and by the end of it I knew that my machine while nice for sewing was not so good for the quilting process. This was a big learning year for. me.
My First Quilt
A disappearing nine patch. I love the colours of this one, it has wool batting and makes a lovely throw quilt. It actually needs more quilting as I haven’t quilted it closely enough for the batting but so far this is 2018 and I haven’t got around to it!
Animal quilt
This was a quilt as you go and came from a class on Craftsy taught my Wendy from Shiny Happy World. This was made for Maximus, my great nephew who was two at the time.
Because I was having trouble keep the quilt smooth as I stitched in the ditch for Audrey’s quilt I quickly pieced this one and was very happy with how it worked out. It went to Scarlett, Max’s younger sister. At some point in time I will make her another.
Audrey’s Quilt
This one was for Audrey. Some are 6 inch blocks and some are 12. Here it is hanging on the line to dry. I had difficulty with the quilting of this. I was using my Pfaff Ambition 1.0 which turned out to be a disappointment for quilting. However I moved on to a Bernina 550 QE after this and it is perfect for quilting.
And below once Audrey had received it.
