Plans two weeks ago.

  1. The Last sewcialites block – No 24.  I made the last block, and now I have put the blocks aside as I am not sure how I will finish it. It will depend largely on what fabric I have.Block 24 Sewcialites
  2. That backing for the baby quilt, it’s going to be a scrappy one.  Yes I pieced a backing. for the baby girl quilt  and now I have pinned it all and have just started to quilt it.
  3. Look at second border for Cozy Up quilt.  No, not even looked at.
  4. Sew something from the To the Moon pattern.  Yes, now have the blocks done and am just beginning to put in the sashing.
  5. Pin a NICU baby quilt top ready for quilting and might even get some of that done. Yes and have finished quilting it and it has its binding on. Now just need to wash it. This takes care of the six inch blocks BOM with A Quilting Life 2022. NICU girl quilt

Plans for the previous week.

  1. Sewcialites block 23  this week.  Done, didn’t really choose the fabric that would enhance this block but happy enough with it. Sewcialites 23
  2. Sort out a backing for the Baby crib top.   Not Done
  3. Some hand sewing on the binding of Sweet Dreams  quilt. A sew along with Pat Sloan. Done and quilt finished. I wasn’t that in love with this quilt, but since quilting it I am a lot more pleased with it.Sweet Dreams finish
  4. Start on the border of All the Stars top, using Cozy Up fabric. This is my UFO to work on for April. It doesn’t have to be finished in April, just progressed on.  First Border attached, found I had sewed up the blocks a little incorrectly, made one small adjustment and left one mistake.

I also started a top I want to make by Chelsi Stratton, To the Moon.  I made the eight small starts and I enjoyed that – sort of happy mindless piecing.  I like the pattern and I think it will make a good boys quilt for one of the great nephews. Small stars

Plans for the Coming Week.

  1. The Last sewcialites block – No 24.
  2. That backing for the baby quilt, it’s going to be a scrappy one.
  3. Look at second border for Cozy Up quilt.
  4. Sew something from the To the Moon pattern.
  5. Pin a NICU baby quilt top ready for quilting and might even get some of that done.

Last weeks plans

  • Sort out a pattern for a baby quilt and then start to think about fabric. This is for one of my sisters to give as a gift to someone special to her. It is going to be a girl. So far she has given me the size she wants, now I am messaging her about colour and pattern.  Baby arrives in June.  Done. I have picked out a pattern and with my sister’s approval am going to start. I ordered some fabric but while waiting for it to arrive I decided to use my scraps and give it a go. It’s a simple pattern but thought I’d give it a go. This is the pattern but going to do it in pink and just one bear.  Pattern from Annie’s Quilt Designs.Screen Shot 2023-03-28 at 3.49.31 PM
  • Continue to quilt Pat Sloan quilt.  Done. And I will finish quilting it in the next few days.
  • Some piecing – Sewcialites blocks for coming week and some work on FQS Mystery BOM.  Done.  I put the second row together of the FQS Mystery BOM 22/23 together. And the sewcialites blocks were very easy piecing this week which was great.

Plans for the Coming Week

  1. Finish quilting the Pat Sloan quilt.
  2. Continue on with the baby quilt first attempt.
  3. Make any blocks in ongoing sew alongs.

Well haven’t posted for a couple of weeks, kept sewing but feeling a little blah so haven’t been doing heaps.

Last time I posted I want to

A few Weeks Ago

Work on my March UFO number – which was number 1 on my list.  This turned out to be a sew along that I did with Pat Sloan – Sweet Dreams. So the goal is to further it along. As the top was made, I used a few bits of the same fabric and made a backing and am in the process of quilting it. March quilting

Work on Sewcialites blocks.  I am up to date with these. I only do the three inch blocks when they are really simple patterns. I do all the six inch ones!

Work on BOM from FQS.  I have done the number nine block and sewed two log cabin blocks so that I could put together row 2. I have row 1 done. I have changed the finishing a little because I don’t want a big quilt, it will be big enough as it is! Always thinking ahead to having to quilt it!! FQS BOM blocks

Plans for the Coming Week

  • Sort out a pattern for a baby quilt and then start to think about fabric. This is for one of my sisters to give as a gift to someone special to her. It is going to be a girl. So far she has given me the size she wants, now I am messaging her about colour and pattern.  Baby arrives in June.
  • Continue to quilt Pat Sloan quilt.
  • Some piecing – Sewcialites blocks for coming week and some work on FQS Mystery BOM.

A Finish To Celebrate

I missed last week, we have had some hot (for us) humid weather. The other day I came out of shop into it and thought this is like walking out of the airport at Singapore. Thankfully it has lessened since then. However I was too hot to sew or do much reading. However will see what this week brings.

Plans  Were

  • I am going to work on the final border for the Chilhowie top and then I can call that part of it finished.  Done and now I am not sure I really like it, will put it away for awhile and maybe one day quilt it! Chilhowie top
  • Sewcialites block of course when it publishes. Done and two weeks worth.  Two latest blocks in the foreground. Sewcialites blocks
  • Continue to quilt to BOM from A Quilting Life 2022 Done – all finished and love this one. I mostly stitched in the ditch around everything and added some fmq in sashing and borders.  Fabric was designed by Sherri & Chelsi.BOM AQL Quilt 2022Quilting up close '22
  • Anything that takes my fancy.  I made one more block for the Double Irish Chain and now have to wait for fabric.

Plans for the Coming Week.

  • Pin and start quilting the BOM with Jacquelynne Steves  from ’21. It is a smaller quilt so will be easier to move around.  To finish this is also going to be my OMG for February.
  • Make Sewcialite block for the coming week when it posts on Friday.
  • Make Mystery BOM ’22/’23 block from FQS.
  • Anything else that makes itself known to me.

One Block at a Time

Last weeks plans

  • Quilt my BOM A Quilting Life 2022 – just a bit every day, mostly going to do stitch in the ditch and something in borders. I’ve made a start and doing a block or so a day. Nothing fancy, stitching in the ditch – and I want a fairly soft feel to it.
  • Make sewcialites blocks when they are published. Done. Didn’t do the 3 inch for this one. This is number 12 I so we are about half way through.  Designed by. Barbara Groves of Me & My Sister Designs.  Sewcialites 12
  • Make BOM Mystery quilt from FQS block that arrived last, about six or seven I think. Done. FQS Mystery Block
  • Whatever takes my fancy.     And as well I sewed together the blocks of No. 2 BOM from A Quilting Life 2022. This was a very scrappy one, made mostly from half square triangles I had left from other projects. Will leave it now, want to put a border on it but I don’t have any fabric to work in with it at present.Scrappy AQL BOM 2022 I also made one more block in the scrappy Irish Chain, so now I have three. I can now make one more block and then I have to wait a few weeks for the accent fabric to arrive. Scrappy Irish Chain 3
  • I also stitched together and put on the inner border on the Chilhowie Bonnie Hunter QAL.Now there will only be the outer border.Border 1 Chilhowie

Finally my calendar arrived from Snapfish, I was about to email them when it dropped at my door today!  NZ Post is very very slow!  Calendar 2023

This Week’s Plans

  • I am going to work on the final border for the Chilhowie top and then I can call that part of it finished.
  • Sewcialites block of course when it publishes.
  • Continue to quilt to BOM from A Quilting Life 2022
  • Anything that takes my fancy.

And Another Sew Along Sighted!

Last weeks plans

  • Continue to work on Chilhowie Bonnie Hunter mystery on the sashing.  I put the sashing in and sewed the main part of the top together. Now I have two rows of borders to do which involves doing some piecing. I have put it away for a little while to have a rest from it.
  • Next Sewcialites block   Done. In three of the fabrics I am working with for three different quilts.  Two 6 inch finished and one 3 inch blocks finished.
  • Finish backing for 12″ blocks A Quilting Life BOM 2022 Done and I got it sandwiched and ready to quilt. Backing
  • Whatever takes my eye!  Well you all know how our eyes can rove! I got hooked by Corey Yoders sew along for a double Irish Chain quilt. They are 18 inch blocks and it appealed to me because it uses scraps! I was just ready for her video on piecing the block A so it was great.

I also washed three quilts which felt good.

Week of 17th of January.

  • Quilt my BOM A Quilting Life 2022 – just a bit every day, mostly going to do stitch in the ditch and something in borders.
  • Make sewcialites blocks when they are published.
  • Make BOM Mystery quilt from FQS block that arrived last, about six or seven I think
  • Whatever takes my fancy.
