Last weeks plans

  • Quilt my BOM A Quilting Life 2022 – just a bit every day, mostly going to do stitch in the ditch and something in borders. I’ve made a start and doing a block or so a day. Nothing fancy, stitching in the ditch – and I want a fairly soft feel to it.
  • Make sewcialites blocks when they are published. Done. Didn’t do the 3 inch for this one. This is number 12 I so we are about half way through.  Designed by. Barbara Groves of Me & My Sister Designs.  Sewcialites 12
  • Make BOM Mystery quilt from FQS block that arrived last, about six or seven I think. Done. FQS Mystery Block
  • Whatever takes my fancy.     And as well I sewed together the blocks of No. 2 BOM from A Quilting Life 2022. This was a very scrappy one, made mostly from half square triangles I had left from other projects. Will leave it now, want to put a border on it but I don’t have any fabric to work in with it at present.Scrappy AQL BOM 2022 I also made one more block in the scrappy Irish Chain, so now I have three. I can now make one more block and then I have to wait a few weeks for the accent fabric to arrive. Scrappy Irish Chain 3
  • I also stitched together and put on the inner border on the Chilhowie Bonnie Hunter QAL.Now there will only be the outer border.Border 1 Chilhowie

Finally my calendar arrived from Snapfish, I was about to email them when it dropped at my door today!  NZ Post is very very slow!  Calendar 2023

This Week’s Plans

  • I am going to work on the final border for the Chilhowie top and then I can call that part of it finished.
  • Sewcialites block of course when it publishes.
  • Continue to quilt to BOM from A Quilting Life 2022
  • Anything that takes my fancy.

And Another Sew Along Sighted!

Last weeks plans

  • Continue to work on Chilhowie Bonnie Hunter mystery on the sashing.  I put the sashing in and sewed the main part of the top together. Now I have two rows of borders to do which involves doing some piecing. I have put it away for a little while to have a rest from it.
  • Next Sewcialites block   Done. In three of the fabrics I am working with for three different quilts.  Two 6 inch finished and one 3 inch blocks finished.
  • Finish backing for 12″ blocks A Quilting Life BOM 2022 Done and I got it sandwiched and ready to quilt. Backing
  • Whatever takes my eye!  Well you all know how our eyes can rove! I got hooked by Corey Yoders sew along for a double Irish Chain quilt. They are 18 inch blocks and it appealed to me because it uses scraps! I was just ready for her video on piecing the block A so it was great.

I also washed three quilts which felt good.

Week of 17th of January.

  • Quilt my BOM A Quilting Life 2022 – just a bit every day, mostly going to do stitch in the ditch and something in borders.
  • Make sewcialites blocks when they are published.
  • Make BOM Mystery quilt from FQS block that arrived last, about six or seven I think
  • Whatever takes my fancy.

To Do Tuesday #2 2023

For the Week 3rd January

  • continue to work on the Chilhowie Bonnie Hunter blocks. The final clue came out last Friday and it finishes off the quilt. It has quite a few steps in it so now I will go slow as I finish, at the moment I am doing the sashing between the blocks which involves some quarter square triangles so will take a little while.
  • The next Sewcialites block later in the week.  Done. I just did it in the main colours and the other blue/yellow and the 3 inch one I am leaving out this week. This is block 10 designed by Lori Holt.Sewcialites 10.
  • Complete doing the hand binding on my Magnolia quilt.  Finally done. I used Riley Blake Anne of Green Gables fabric and the pattern is by Chelsi Sttratton.  I made it smaller than the pattern.Magnolia finish!

And a few other things that found there way in. I know many of you call them squirrels but we have no squirrels in my country so no name for them!!

I decided to do A Quilting Life BOM for 2023 even though I had decided I wouldn’t. But only doing the 6″ version and in boys fabric that can be turned into a boys quilt and uses up scraps of fabric left overs!6 Bom 23

I also took on moving my A Quilting Life BOM 2022 further along during January, towards the finish line. My 12″ top is done so I put my 6″ blocks together into a top and its the perfect size our NICU like so eventually I’l’ quilt it up for that.6 AQL 2022
I also started making a backing for the 12″ block one and that is almost finished.

Week of 10th January

  • Continue to work on Chilhowie Bonnie Hunter mystery on the sashing.
  • Next Sewcialites block
  • Finish backing for 12″ A Quilting Life BOM 2022
  • Whatever takes my eye!

Plans for the week were…

  • Keep on quilting the Magnolia quilt.  I got most of it done and just have a little more to go.
  • Make a second pillowslip. Done. Again followed SewVeryEasy You Tube tutorial to do it. I didn’t really have enough fabric as it was directional, so I hope after I wash it that it still fits the pillow.

    .

  • Continue to piece Clue 2 of Chilhowie, take a look at Clue 3 when it comes out.  In progress. I finished clue 2 and am working on clue three, half way throughClue 3 Chilhowe.
  • Possibly some  Sewcialites blocks.  I loved Pat Sloan’s block for the Sewcialites #7 block and completed all three blocks in the fabrics I am using. Two six inch blocks and one three inch block. Block #7 Sewcilaites 2

The Week from the 13th of December

  • Finish quilting the Magnolia quilt and maybe machine sew on the binding to the front ready for hand sewing the back.

Plan for Week of 29th Nov into December were…

  • Continue with the quilting of the Magnolia quilt. I continued, its going to take me almost to the end of the month I think as I chose a design that is taking time and not being executed that straight either!
  • Make a Sewcialite 2 block 6 I think. Done. Block 6 designed by Camille Roskelley. Called Always Star. Here it is in the 6 inch in one of the fabrics I am making. Still have another 6 inch to do and a 3 inch.
  • Secialites 2 Block 6
  • Try to figure how to make a pillowslip  with Christmas fabric. I want to make it with a flap but am bamboozled by the variety of tutorials on You Tube but aim to try and combine two that just may help me.  Done. I eventually followed SewVeryEasy You Tube tutorial to do it. It fits a pillow so it will do!Pillowslip 1
  • Make some Chilhowie blocks here and there! Clue 1 and 2 are out. I am doing 3/4 the size of the quilt so 3/4 of the number of blocks. Clue 1 is done and Clue 2 is in progress.1st 2 clues mystery BH

Plans for Week of 15th November Were

Make binding and machine sew one side on to the Riley Blake quilt.  Done. I now need to do the hand sewing on it. I have started but still some way to go.

Make Sewcialites Block 5 in a couple of fabrics. I did the 6 inch blocks. The 3 inch will be too difficult for me with this pattern so will choose the one suggested from Sewcialites 1. This block is called Empower, designed by Carrie Nelson.

Pick out what I will quilt next and organise backing and batting and pin together. I chose Magnolia a pattern by Chelsi Stratton. The top was all sewn and in the same Anne of Green Gables fabric as I used for the Riley Blake. I did pin it together and its now sitting ready for quilting. I am mainly going to stitch in the ditch with a bit of fmq here and there.
